How does a portable charger for iPhone work?

My mom an I went Xmas shopping the other day an I got a charger thing for my iPhone. It just goes in th bottom. Hook into were just the charger would go. An my mom asked how it works an I said I don't know but it's cool cause my friend has a case th charges his phone when you turn the switch on. So Ik this kinda thing works. An then tonight I didn really think anything of it I till I started thinking yea how does that work if there's no outlet plug for it, so with that being said. How does this work?

Well I will keep it short and simple. It works exactly the same like how you would charge your Iphone directly from the power socket in your house. That electric from the socket will be stored in your Iphone's battery, right? Just that for a portable charger, the electric from the socket will be stored in your portable charger first. When you plug in your portable charger into your Iphone, the electric that is stored in your portable charger will be used to charge your Iphone. Simple.

You don't have a charger, you have a cable. In order to use it to charge your phone, the usb cable end must be plugged into a USB power supply or USB computer port.
