How does droid compare to apple?

So the only serious smart phone I've ever had has been an iphone. Next week I'm getting a galaxy note and I want to know how do I do basic things like load music, and buy apps? Do I have to buy them directly from my phone or can I do it from my PC like with apple? Also with iphone I have to update it once and a while through itunes, do I need to do that with droid?

I personally think youve made a good move, iv never had much love for the expensive iphones which they bring out every year. The android firmware is quite similar to apples in terms of layout and what you can do. Adding music can be just done by hooking it up to the computer (no need for itunes) or just buying directly to your phone. You buy apps through google play app store on your phone, and maybe on the computer too (not to sure never bothered looking). You can update your phone through your phone brands software that may be supplied or downloadable or maybe just through Wi-Fi on newer smart phones. Androids are a lot more customisable, user friendly, versatile, and if your into it mess about with such as rooting (if you don't know what it is then, you don't need to).
