How does registered airmail shipping really worked?

So i just orderd an iphone 4 case a few weeks ago from mart shopping, and i chose the registered airmail as my shipping method, and yesterday i used my tracking number to track the item, it said that "We attempted to deliver your item at 11:24 August 14, 2013 in Dorchester Ma 02122 and a notice was left. Then it tell me to arrange redelivery or pick it up at post office. So they arrived at my place why can't they just deliver it to my house? And i lived on the address above Dorchester Ma 02122.Is the shipping method just like that or how can i make them deliver it straight to my house? This is very frustrating so please help!

So either there's a typo in the address they are trying to deliver to or you were not home when they were there
and I can't help you, contact the post and arrange a redeliver or go pick it up, sheesh, what do you think I will do?

If it's registered, you need to sign for it. If you're not home during the day, it's easier to pick it up at the post office.

You requested <<registered>> mail shipping.

That means that you have to SIGN for it. If no one is home, they can't get a signature, so they can't just leave it.

If they left a notice, then you can take that to the post office and pick up the package, OR there <<may>> be a place for you to sign that notice and check the box that says to deliver it with that signature as being OK.

Put the notice back where the mailman left if and he/she will leave the package. Note that if you do that, and the package goes missing, you have no recourse. Neither the seller nor the PO will take any responsibility.

YOU HAVE TO BE THERE to receive a REGISTERED item. It is now waiting for you to pick up IN PERSON and SIGN FOR.

You must sign for Registered Mail. It is a high security service and can't be left in a mailbox.
