How does the 2gb verizon data plan work?

I'm very confused about the data plans for verizon. I have had my iphone 4s for over a year. The phone I had prior to that was a droid, with an unlimited data plan. I understand that they switched the unlimited plan to either a 2gb, or you could purchase more. My family also owns iphones and we're all on the same bill. They have the iphone 5, and purchased them recently. The main questions I'm asking are, how easy is it to go over the limit? Does the 2gb apply to everyone, or do we each have our own? Also, would I still have the unlimited plan, or has it changed over?

My dad does not pay much attention to his bill, he just pays it off. He has a lot of people on our bill and he just tries to deal with it like that. I'm basically your average teenage girl and send plenty of picture messages, I sometimes use netflix on my phone, I have facebook open, and tumblr, and sometimes watch youtube videos. I do have some apps I use frequently, such as twitter and my facebook app. I don't play many games though.

Are we most likely paying extra for over usage? Or does it sound like we fit into the normal category of people?

From what you said its a family plan. Yes they switched the unlimited data to a certain amount.
Let me explain it to you. Lets say the family plan started with two phones your dad and mom. If they have a smartphone it will be 40+40+data package 1, 2, 4 etc gigabytes. =monthly charge. Say you got the 4 gb it will be 40(smartphone)+40(smartphone)+70(4gb data)=150 monthly for two phones.

If you add another phone say yours it's 40x3(smartphones)+70(data
If you add another smartphone it will be 40x4+70 for data
So if your whole family has smartphones multiply how many phones times 40. Then add the data you have(but you DNT know so you can't add it)

Data can be sucked up a lot by running on the network I suggest you not to watch any videos on the network. Videos suck up all the data including Netflix. Everything else is fine FB twitter news mail etc don't waste a lot of data but videos do. If you have Wi-Fi then use that to watch videos.

  • With Verizon, can two iphones share a data package of 2GB? I have an iphone right now and it costs $30 for 2 GB of data a month. My mom wants to get rid of her basic keyboard phone and upgrade to an iPhone. But she doesn't want to pay an addtional $30 for her 2 GB of data. Is it possible for her to just use some of my data and join my 2 GB plan?
  • What is the 2gb data plan for verizon? I have an iphone 5 and me and my mom are using the 2gb share everything plan but i don't know how to not go over the limit since i don't even know what the 2gb is. Like what does it use up? Does watching youtube videos affect it? Going on the internet? Streaming pandora?
  • What is data in a Verizon data plan? I just got an iphone 5 and am having some trouble. I know that data includes email, accounts and any internet websites (facebook, youtube, netflix). Does it use up data to have multiple internet browsers open even though I only look at one at a time? Is it possible to use up data when the phone is off? Also, is taking a picture, playing app games, listening to music, and siri considered to be "data" on the data plan? Is there an overall explanation for what a data plan is?
  • Is the 2GB data plan on Verizon enough for iPhone 4s? I'm switching providers soon and I want Verizon and to get the iPhone 4s but I noticed you pay for however much data you use. It's not unlimited? So do you think the 2GB data plan is enough? I do go on the internet a lot on my phone now such as Facebook and Tumblr. I take a lot of pictures and have a lot of apps. I'm just afraid I'll go over and then my dad will have to pay more… It's already expensive enough.
