How long do you think I could keep using my iPhone 5S before apple discontinues updates and other services on it?
I think after this phone I'll go to a iPhone 6 or to a android phone that performs the same or better than the iPhone. I was really disappointed when they removed the headphone jack and drastically changed the outside design of the phone so there's no possibility of me wanting a iPhone 7 or 8. I've been using iPhones for 4 years now and using apple products for 7 years so i'll really miss the iPhone when that happens. And I've had my 5S for 2 years now
If Apple keeps according to its current update cycle the 5s should get updates until September 2018 (before iOS 12).
As indicated by the latest Google Pixel phones removing their headphone jacks, its just a matter of time where even more remove theirs as well (others also have already)
As far as the external design, some have criticised Apple for not changing the design basically among the 6, 6s, 7 & 8. The X of course is the most drastic change in iPhone design since 2014.
- You think I could buy a iPhone 5 if i work what you guys think? You guys think that if i work at McDonald or any store i can afford to buy the iPhone 5? And pay every month
- Why does my iPhone keep asking for updates? I've done the iOS6 update two different times and my phone just asked for it again yesterday. I don't understand. I have an iPhone4 btw.
- If I buy an unlocked iPhone 5, can I hook it up to other services? I really want an iPhone 5, but the prices are way too much! 80 bucks for unlimited texting and data, but only 300 minutes of calling? Uh, no. Unlocked iPhones are more expensive up front but can pay off in the long run. If I buy an unlocked one, can I hook it up to Virgin Mobile or Cricket?
- I'm switching iPhones and services, and I concerned about the process and loss of service (even temporarily). Any tips on how to handle it? I bought an open iPhone SE to replace an older iPhone, and I'm signing up for a different service. They provide the SIM. And of course I want to port my old number to the new service. But I don't want to cancel my old service before the new one is set up. If I set up the new service before I cancel the old one will I have two functioning phones on the same number for a while? I'm not sure how to handle this and cause the least disruption to my service.
