How many photos will an iPhone 8GB carry?

I have the unlimited plan for sprint, and she told me that means i can have unlimited pictures. And I knew she was wrong.

Anyways, my phone is jailbroken.
My iCloud is off.

Here's what my 'about' says in my phone
Songs: 0
Videos: 1
Photos: 46
Applications: 27
Capacity 6.4GB
Available: 514 MB

I've used 5.8. And there are 28 apps I ACTUALLY use.
The top 5 being Twitter, photos/camera, Instagram, Facebook and my web browser.
I hate having to delete my photos after 'x' amount. How can i get more space?
As of right now how many photos can my phone hold?
I know it CAN hold up to 4k without all the junk

If each photo was a 10Mb photo taken from elsewhere then you could hold 800 photos, if they were taken with the iphone and each was 2Mb then you could have 4, 000 photos. If they are mixed (assuming iphone photos and photos of another source with more high quality), then 3000-3500 photos can be stored easily.
