VPN may be the answer if someone does not have any internet service at home but uses some dedicated line with VPN to access the workplace, and thus their Internet. What service they use to get VPN remains a "question" however. In theory, you could get an Network line run via DSL, that does not go through an ISP, just to a service provider's network. From there it is routed to a work place.

I think when answering this question, we need to consider the medium used to deliver the Internet, not the devices themselves. Which basically breaks into 2 categories, wired and wireless.

Examples of wired include:
Modulated Tone (Phone Modem)
DSL
Cable
Fiber

Examples of wireless include:
Wi-Fi
Cellular 2G and 3G
WiMAX
LTE
Satellite

These are not ways to access the internet, they are devices that also have internet access, other than vpn but again thats a method of connection not a actual type.
Connections are things like DSL, cable etc.

VPN should be in this list as its more like to a device for accessing than a access type.

  • My Iphone is not letting me access the internet or internet based apps? I have an Iphone 5. Never had any issues but now it won't connect to the internet or any apps. It does the same thing it does when I have no service (just has that little circle symbol that means it's trying to get through). Orginally, I thought it must be a universal problem but everyone else has service and they are in the same location as me. Also I always use my phone here with no problems. I have tried turning it off and on again but nothing.
  • Limited internet on iPhone, ways to save? I have an iPhone 4 on Verizon and since they got rid of their unlimited data plan a year ago I only have 2gb of internet. What are some ways I can save my internet so I don't go over? Is there any way I can get alerts when I'm about to go over? I already connect to Wi-Fi when possible.

  • Connected but no Internet access when connecting to wireless Internet? If I try to connect to my linksys e2500 router on my laptop it says "connected but no Internet access".It also connects to all my devices (iPhone etc) but no Internet access. How can I fix this? I'm using windows 7.
