How much internet will i need on an iphone 5?
I'm thinking of buying an iphone 5 and was wondering how many GB of data i will be using approximately. When i'm at home i will be using Wi-Fi so it is mainly just facebook, twitter, and some internet based apps like snapchat that i might be using while i'm out. I will avoid downloading apps or streaming youtube videos unless using wi-fi. Do you think 1 or 2GBs will be enough as this is what most contracts seem to offer?
If you are not going to be streaming videos or downloading apps, then 1gb will be more than enough, maybe even just 500mb will be good enough
1gb is plenty if your just checking emails and apps and odd post to facebook, uploading photos tho and as you mention YouTube will drain allowance very quickly.
Hope you are well.
The iPhone 5 is an excellent handset for browsing the internet, social networking and using Apps. So naturally you don't want to be worried about going over your data allowance.
One thing to remember is that 1GB is a lot of data. It's equivalent to approximately 1, 600 web pages viewed, 150 social network posts, 20 minutes of video streaming, 4000 emails with no attachments/photos, 300 emails with attachments/photos and 15 apps downloaded. Which is quite a lot. 2GB will be approximately double of these amounts.
Having Wi-Fi at home will help you immensely. Especially if you save all your heavy downloading and streaming for then and use your mobile data for when you're out and about.
You can easily monitor your data use, the majority of networks offer an App you can download from the App Store which will you tell roughly how much you have left. You can also call that networks Customer Service team or check your account online to see how much data you have left.
If you are coming close to going over your data allowance, it's possible the network can offer you an extra bundle to add on for the month to save any high bill charges. It's worth checking with the network before you take out the contract just to be sure.
I hope this has been useful for you.

If you are going to be trying to avoid streaming and downloading while you are not at home then you might just want 500MB - 1GB. If you think that you might start using more as time goes on then consider getting > 1.5GB
I'm pretty sure att doesn't offer 2 GB but if you have Wi-Fi i'm sure 1 GB is enough but look at the price differences if your avoiding downloading apps and MOVIES OR YOUTUBE you will be fine but movies and youtube take up A LOT of data
- Why does my iPhone still charge for Internet even when I'm not using Internet? So, I recently got a pay monthly plan with my new iPhone 4s. When i'm out and about I'm usually updating my twitter and Facebook account. But, when I'm put my phone down, 3G still says I'm using it and charging me. So do I have to turn it off when i'm finished? Or is there a much easier way?
- My Iphone is not letting me access the internet or internet based apps? I have an Iphone 5. Never had any issues but now it won't connect to the internet or any apps. It does the same thing it does when I have no service (just has that little circle symbol that means it's trying to get through). Orginally, I thought it must be a universal problem but everyone else has service and they are in the same location as me. Also I always use my phone here with no problems. I have tried turning it off and on again but nothing.
- IPhone 4s Internet or no Internet? I want the iPhone and my dad doesn't want to pay for the Internet and I have an iPod that ha Internet n I told him just get me the phone and you don't need to put internet on it… Can you please tell me how much the version on is and how much everythig will be if I didn't do the Internet with cost 50 bucks thanks
- Internet via iPhone's Personal Hotspot vs Cable Internet? I currently have a data plan with unlimited 4G data with my phone carrier. I can share its cellular connection with my desktop at home which has been working out great even for streaming videos. Is there any reason we should still buy Internet service from an Internet service provider like Comcast, when all I have to do is use the Internet connection from my phone carrier? What are the advantages?
