How much room does ios 7 take up?

I just bought an iphone 4 (8gb). I used to have one a long time ago and then switched to an Android for a long while. Today I figured I would be happy with the iphone 4 again. My new iphone has ios 5.1.1 installed. It keeps saying I must update my phone to ios 6 or newer in order to use pretty much all the apps I want to download. From what I have found, I MUST install the new ios 7 which I'm not happy about. >. Is this true? I want to make damn sure.)
Anyway, I was wondering how much space it would take up. Will it take up a lot of space on my little ol 8gb?

It will not take that long. Don't listen to people saying that I'd takes 2gs when it doesn't. I updated my phone and i didn't even see that it took space. And it also depends on your personal preferences.

I've been recently frustrated with how little space my iPhone had left considering how much content I have on my phone (2200 songs at 17.9GB, 1200 pictures at 4.6GB, 29 apps at 3.02GB, etc.). I compared it to my sister's identical iPhone, which has much of the same content. However, her phone has 2100 songs at 8.8GB, 3700 at 3.4GB and 46 apps at 3.4GB. Much of her music was downloaded directly from my MacBook. Why is my phone so full while hers still hasn't reached half-capacity?

I wanna get the update but I don't know if I deleted my songs will it be able to download them back? Will I get all the space back or will I not be able to download the songs back and the space will be taken up?
  • IPhone 4 doesn't have enough room for IOS 7? I've downloaded it and everything but it says I need 624 MB of space but I only have 234. I deleted all my apps but 2, have only around 100 pictures, and don't have a lot of music. There isn't anything else to delete to make room for this update. What do I do? There's nothing on iCloud taking up room there. The biggest thing taking up room is music with 461 MB but I don't want to delete my songs. I don't want to reset and lose everything.
