How to access Wi-Fi on iPhone?

I'm getting an iPhone 5 within two days and one of the essential things about smartphones is the web connection. This will be my first iPhone and I have no clue on using Wi-Fi, so I have couple of questions.
1.In what areas can Wi-Fi be used?
2. How much does it cost?
3. What is a Wi-Fi password and how to get it (do I have to create one or what)
Basically any information on accessing Wi-Fi would be useful.

Wi-Fi is wireless internet. Wi-Fi can be used in areas which there's a Wi-Fi connection available.Wi-Fi is free but most of the Wi-Fi connections use a Wi-Fi password to not let every people use their internet connection free. To access Wi-Fi from an iphone just touch on settings and then Wi-Fi. After that it will search for available Wi-Fi connections.

You do not understand what you are asking.

Wireless Internet linkage, commonly called Wi-Fi is a means to link to a Local Area Network using a radio frequency wireless link instead of a wired link. It makes no difference if the device linking to the LAN is a smart phone, a laptop, or any other device.

You must have a wireless access point on your Local Area Network (LAN). This can be a stand alone access point that is linked to the LAN via a CAT5 or CAT6 cable. Alternatively you can buy a router that has a built in wireless access point and this is commonly called a wireless router.

The wireless access point is configured to use a specific encryption type, has a wireless password, and often has MAC address validation enabled for higher security and VLAN routing if you use VLANS.

To connect to the wireless access point your device must match the encryption, you must enter the proper password, and if MAC address validation is used in any way the MAC address of the wireless interface must be added to the MAC validation table in the wireless access point.

We do not know the specifics of your wireless access point so see the system administrator (person who set it up).

Please note that the MAC address is a 12 character address; Apple devices often call the the Wi-Fi address.
