How to achieve a professional-quality filming style/look?
So, as a fun experiment I'm starting to play with my iPhone 4S camera and am interested in seeing if I can achieve some specific styles of filming. I may also be renting a Red Epic soon as well. Specifically, I'm looking to get a Spielberg-esque feel in a short film I want to make, which J. J. Abrams nailed in 2011's Super 8. I'm also a big fan of The Rocketeer, which also has a classic Spielberg feel to it, and was curious what it would take to achieve that style. Finally, in terms of more modern styles, I love the clean looks of movies like Captain America and even The Amazing Spider-Man, which I know what shot on a Red Epic. And before I forget, even though I know both Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder use film, is there any way to pull off what they did on The Dark Knight trilogy or Man of Steel? Man of Steel especially had some cool Terrence Malick Tree of Life-esque shots I liked as well.
I'm really just looking for what I can do to film it like them, and then what I'd need to utilize in post-production to further solidify these styles both for the Red Epic and iPhone. I know apps for the iPhone like Filmic Pro have been suggested, and right now I'm only using iMovie in post, but any further ideas are welcome.

- Why does the video quality look bad when uploaded to the computer? [iPhone 4]? When I upload my video to youtube in HD directly from the iphone, I go on the computer to watch it on youtube and the quality is perfectly normal. But when I copy the file from my iphone and onto my computer the video looks grainy? I wan't to put it into after effects and do some editing but how can I go about KEEPING the quality of the video? I don't get why it gets all grainy when I put it onto my computer vs. It being perfect when I upload it directly from my ipod to youtube?
- Why does my iPhone receive good quality videos as bad quality videos? So I recently met a famous guy in concert and when I got a picture wth him I was getting a video and my friend used her phone to video it. So she sent it to me and it was like terrible quality and the video was like little with a huge black border around it. But yet it looks perfectly fine on her phone? How do I fix it? Whenever I try to get video editing apps it always says error & only with that particular video. I have an iPhone 5c, and so does my friend.
- Where should you look when filming a youtube video on your iphone, of yourself? Where should I focus my eyes? I was looking at myself in the reverse cam but that doesn't look right. Is it?
- What is the best bang for your buck video camera for retro style filming at 24 fps, 4K resolution, and no camera judder? Below $1,250? I use an anamorphic adapter lens for an iPhone 6s Plus(+filmic pro) and while the footage is 10 times better than basic iPhone footage, I can't help but notice the jerkiness of edged objects at 24 frames even when I'm holding the phone as still as I can. I've experimented with different frames, shutter speeds, ISO
