How to call private on iPhone?

I try to call Unkown, but when I call with *67 it doesn't come out Unkown on my iPhone 5 I know this because I tried it on my brother and it didn't come out private. How do I make it come out Unkown or blocked etc.without going to settings<phone<show my caller id

Settings➡Phone➡Show my caller ID➡Off

Some features, which we're used to with landlines, are country, network and even handset specific. This is even more the case when in comes to mobile phones.

Here in the UK, the prefix 141 is used to withhold caller identification on land-lines and this works on most of the UK mobile networks too. However, I only recently discovered that when I use 141 as a prefix on the Three network, I get a network announcement saying "hide id. Is not available using 141, please use your handset menu option." or a message to that effect on the display, depending on which handset I'm using. However, a little bit of on-line research shows that the prefix #31# seems to work on UK mobile networks but not necessarily on land-lines. I'll experiment a bit more with mobile networks and land-line operators but #31# seems to be the answer for mobile users in the UK without having to resort to changing phone settings.

Like 141 in the UK, you might reasonably expect that *67 would work on all mobile networks in the US as it does on landlines but apparently this is not the case. I've seen *82 suggested as an alternative to *67 but you may need to experiment with it to ensure that it works with your network and whether you are calling another mobile phone or a land-line. If not, you may have to ask your carrier and, even then, they may not know and suggest changing the phone settings to disable caller id. For all calls. However, don't let them offer to disable it on your number from their end as I don't think that's what you want and it's harder to undo!

Sorry I couldn't be of more help but it's hard to research these things when you don't have a US mobile phone to experiment with. Please report back if *82 works or if you find a reliable alternative.

You can see blocked mobile numbers but you have to use a service. I was harassed constantly last year. I got this service, got the number, and called them up. I would start with http://www.seeblockednumber.com

  • Will it show up as a missed call if i call someone by accident for half a ring? So I accidentally called my ex on his iphone, but I quickly realized my mistake and hung up after a half ring. Like you know how when you're calling someone it rings, I hung up after the first riiiing. My question is, will it show up on his phone as a missed call? I tested it out on 2 friends. One iphone 5 and iphone 4. They both told me they didn't get a call. Am I in the clear?
