when your troops are almost finished upgrading fill your barracks with that troop (barracks, not camps)
when the troop has finnished upgrading, and is more expensive, remove all the troops from your barracks the troops will be more expensive, and you will gain some elixir
When your waiting for something advance the date by turning off auto date in the settings
