How to clear the Other section of my mac storage?

So basically I've been running low on storage space for a while, so I decided to clean up the storage. But I don't know how to clean up the 80gb of "other" (out of only 120gb that I have). I've searched around, I cleared my browsing history, there's no such folder called "log" for my computer, I deleted the unused languages, deleted my iphone backups, and that only cleared about 6 gb.
I really need help, I've only got 20gb left and I don't want to tamper with any folders to do with the system incase if i break the whole thing.

The "other" category is just files that don't fall under the other categories.

There's a program called "Grand Perspective" that does an amazing map of your hard drive and shows you what data is on it.

It makes it very easy to identify things that are using too much space, but also very easy to delete things that are essential to your system so if you use it, be careful.

You totally forgot to tell which Mac you have. Some Macs have 1TB of storage (1,000GB!). Other Macs are offered with the option of 128GB of storage or the option to choose more. DID YOU CHOOSE MORE? If not, that's why you are agonizing now!

You are safe in deleting ANYTHING that is in your home folder.
You are safe in deleting anything THAT YOU HAVE ADDED to the Applications directory. DO NOT TRY to go beyond that. The stuff installed by Apple before you bought the computer can't be deleted.

In summary, don't focus on "OTHER". Focus on buying an external drive. You do not have enough internal storage. THAT IS THE ONLY PROBLEM.
