If you have an Apple TV, this can be doe by connecting both to the same Wi-Fi network and double clicking home. Scroll to the left until you see an airplay icon. Click it and select airplay mirroring. Then you switch the av/hdmi to your apple tv box. This will only work on apple tv but is pretty cool.
