How to connect my tv to my external speakers?

Hi, I recently bought a tv and the speakers are quite faint. I want to connect the tv (with my ps3 attached) to either my stereo speakers or some external speakers that I've bought but everything I have tried has failed. I've used the red, white and yellow cables, a hdmi cable, a direct plug and play (using the headphone jack on my stereo and separate external speakers) and none of it works. It works with my computer and iPhone and all that jazz but nothing works with the tv. I'm going slightly crazy! Any help would be really awesome. My tv is a Sonia L32v12b-au.

The best way is through audio optical cables…

Ps3 audio settings or tv audio settings on ps3 you must set audio to correct output

Your first problem:

Your HDTV is a 5.1 device. It outputs 6-speakers worth of sound.
You keep trying to hookup stereo speakers which are 2 speakers worth of sound.
Do you see the problem?

Your second issue:

Speakers are motors. They need an amplifier to convert weak signals from your TV, PS3, etc.into powerful enough signals to run motors.

You have speakers - but where is the amplifier? Your Stereo has one, but see the above issue.

WHAT YOU NEED

You need either a 5.1 AV Receiver with speakers or a Soundbar.

Soundbars are like computer speakers. They have an amplifier built into the speaker box so you just hook it up to your HDTV and it works.

Make sure your HDTV has an optical output.
Make sure you buy a soundbar that accepts 5.1 via optical. (Lots of them only accept red/white RCA signals and this will not work with your HDTV).

Hope this helps.

You can't connect a TV directly to speakers. You need an amplifier/receiver with speakers or soundbar. Best connection would be PS3 to TV via HDMI then TV to receiver or soundbar via optical cable. Here's an example of both: http://www.amazon.com/...0077V88V8/
