How to delete all the other on my iPhone?

I have an iPhone 4, and I want to delete all the "other" on my phone, which takes about 4GB worth of date, which is ridiculous. So, how can I delete all of it at once without going through it?

This question comes up all the time for iPod or iPhone.

The "other" is the operating software. Since your device will not work without it, it can't be deleted.

If you read the fine print on the box your phone came in, it says how many TOTAL GB of storage the phone has, but notes that formatted storage, for your content, is less.

I'd be happy to help you out with this.

What "other" is:
• System Files
• The main apps (Messages, Phone, Camera, Photos, Weather, etc.)
• iOS Data

How can I delete this?:
• Well, you can't. You can't delete this stuff because it comes with the iOS. You can't delete it, and it's all necessary. I know it can be frustrating with how much space it takes up, but that's how it is with every device.

I hope this helped, and have fun with your iPhone.

I;m with Elizabeth C - this question DOES come up all the time. How much are you paying for data on your phone that you can't do something as simple as googling the search string "reduce other iphone"?

You can't delete it but you can reduce it - clearing the safari cache & cookies in settings is one way; turning the iPhone on and off is another. On my 3rd Gen iPod Touch, "other" takes up just under one GB. Differences in iOS version and the apps you use might account for some larger "other" footprint, but not 3Gb worth.
