Go to your home screen and hold your finger on any app. All your apps should start shaking, and show a red X in the corner. Click the X and choose if you want to delete the documents and data. Hope this helps!
Go to Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage under Storage. This shows you a list of apps that are taking the space on your iOS 9. Choose the useless Apps to delete by taping the "Delete App" button on the next screen. Or, from the Home screen, tap and hold the app icon and wait for it to wiggle. Then tap the "X" in the upper right-hand corner to delete the App.
If you don't want to uninstall any apps to release space, you may try iMyfone Space Saver for iOS. It can free up some space, but you don't need to delete thing for your iPhone.
Press & hold on any icon until they start to wiggle & press the x. Probably wouldn't need to though since iOS 9 requires much less space for installation.
Also could just update through iTunes & wouldn't need to uninstall anything.

And there are pre-instaled apps that I wish to get rid of to save data, save battery life, etc. The apps are stocks, maps, and weather.
