How to delete songs off icloud?
Here's the issues. I held off on updating my iphone to ios7 because I knew Apple would somehow dick me over, like they always do. However, I finally caved and got ios7 tonight and I'm regretting it big time.
I went to listen to my music I noticed that I have like 200 more songs than normal. Intrigued, I scrolled through my playlist and what do I find? Every song I've ever deleted from my phone with a little icloud symbol next to it. Great.
I googled how to fix it and found out I just had to unselect "Show All Music" in the Music tab under settings. This is where my problem is. This gets rid of the icloud songs and it only shows songs that I've bought directly from itunes, which is most of them. The thing is, there are about 100 songs in my play list that I didn't buy from itunes (because they weren't available there), I downloaded them to my computer and added them to my phone. Now when I deselect "Show All Music", the icloud songs are gone, but so are the handful of songs that I actually want.
I've never signed up for icloud or imatch or any of those stupid things so it really pisses me off that this is happening. Is there a way I can get rid of the songs from icloud and still keep the ones I actually want?
Added (1). By the way, I do know how to delete a song but it doesn't work for the songs with the icloud symbol next to it
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to answer your question.
iCloud is not something that you sign up for… It is part of your Apple ID/iTunes/App Store account. And is used for syncing services as well as many more uses.
If you want to remove the songs from being seen on your iDevice, you can go to iTunes on your PC or Mac and hide them from your view which will also hide them from your iOS device (iPhone).
Open iTunes app on your computer.
Click iTunes Store link in the upper right corner of the window, just under the search box.
On the right side of the iTunes home screen you will see a section entitled "Quick Links". The second one in the first column is "Purchased". Click "Purchased".
This will take you to a screen that will show you all of the apps/media you have purchased from iTunes. Music should already be selected.
There are two toggle buttons at the top of the box what will have your purchased items listed by Album or you can toggle to Songs.
On the Album screen if you hover over an album you will see a little X box that will appear in the upper left corner of the album artwork.
You can select this box and it will ask you if you want to hide this item. Also it says from your Account page you can unhide a purchase. Click OK.
Now that album and all of the associated songs will disappear from your iOS Music app. Unfortunately there's no automated option to do this task you are in need of. Depending on your purchased content library it could take some time to accomplish this task. To remove songs individually you can click the "Songs" tab and hover over a song or video and click the X that will appear on the far right of the line you are hovering over. This should take care of the iCloud items you want to not see again.
As far as your other issue, when it comes to doing a iOS software update there will be times when the OS requires you to start from scratch with the new OS. Meaning your locally stored music could be gone from the device. You will need to transfer your desired music that is not iTunes purchased back to your iDevice using iTunes, either wirelessly or by USB plugged into your computer. If you had iTunes Match all of your music content would be available to you on any device your iTunes account is logged into. ITunes Match only uploads titles that it doesn't recognize as being available to match an iTunes version. If you do have content that is not available thru iTunes, it will upload those media files to Apple's servers to make them available like iTunes purchases are now for you. They will also have a cloud symbol in your Music app.
I hope that this information will help you complete your desired outcome. Good Luck.
