How to download photos off an iphone without using itunes?

It no longer appears in windows explorer and apple never designed a way to copy photos off the iphone. Syncing with a new computer would just erase everything and copy the contents of the computer to the iphone, its just ridiculously stupid.

Because the iphone is outdated or because of a system error, it can't be kept up to date so itunes may not be working due to that fact.

A long time ago i was able to use a tool that could access all the iphones files (different iphone mind you), but i no longer have the same computer and don't know the name, all i know it was complete freeware, no purchasing or trials involved.

Anyway, does anyone know how i can download the photos off? I've exhausted every means and itunes is just plainly super user unfriendly as it is, it can't conceive of any possible errors. The original synced computer for the iphone is so virus infected it can't support a viable baud rate for the device, let alone do "things".

Now plug your iPhone into your computer, and use a photo app to pull the pictures off. When I plug mine in at work (no iTunes there), I get a popup offering to download pictures & videos. "trust" both of the devices, and then let the pics download.
