First, get an app on the app store called "free video downloader" or something along the lines of that (an app that will allow you to download videos, just download the first app that comes up.

Then, on the app, you should be able to search on google. Go to www.youtube.com and find the video you want to download.

When you play the video (still using this app), it should give you the option to "download to cache" or "save to memory" or something along those lines. If it doesn't give you the option, go to this website:

and place the url (www.youtube.com/…) of the video into the box, then hit download (remember, still using the app). It will then start downloading onto the app.

When it is finished, navigate your way to the downloaded videos section off the app (it is different for each one, so I can't tell you specifically). And you can watch the video. If you hold down on the video, it may also give you the option to save to camera roll, which is great, so you don't even have to open the app to watch the video.

Since theses apps are free, they often have problems, so just try a few different apps, and you'll eventually find apps that work.

After that, you're best to use Firefox on your computer and add DownloadHelper as a tool (Tools > Addons > Get Addons > Search for DownloadHelper). Then when you watch a video on Youtube, there will be a little icon with three moving circles to the right of the address bar that you click to download the file. Add it into your iTunes library, and sync it to your phone.

There used to be an app called ProTuber that functioned just like YouTube but I could choose to download the video I'm watching to my iPhone for offline viewing and also export to my computer when connected to my PC. It's no longer in the App Store.
