How to exit recovery mode with a broken power button?
Hi there i have an iphone 4 and it told me to update to ios7.2 and so i did and i went to the loading screen and then shut off and turned to recovery mode ( says plug in to itunes ) but when i plu into itunes and try to restore it, the process fails. My phones power buttons broken so i can't get it into dfu mode, i tried downloadin redsn0w and everything worked all the way up to finding my ipsw, is there a page i can SUCESSFULLY download an ipsw or could someone explain to me what it is. My phone has been stuck in recovery mode for a week and i'm freaking out please help anything you know to get it out of that mode without using the power ( on / off / hold ) button
1. Attach the iPhone data cable to the bottom of your iPhone device, and then attach the other end of the iPhone data cable to an available USB port on your computer.
2. Open the iTunes program on your computer. Wait for a box to prompt you that "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode." Click "OK." This takes you to the iPhone pane in iTunes.
3. Click "Restore." Wait for iTunes to restore your iPhone device. It can take up to 30 minutes for iTunes to restore your iPhone. You are prompted when the system restore is complete and it is safe to disconnect the data cable from your iPhone.
If there's a jailbreak on it that's probably why.
When updating it is always best to use iTunes because when you update via Wi-Fi there's a high chance of it failing simply because the Wi-Fi signal might stop for the briefest period of time but that's all it takes.
There's another way you can try. Hold down the home button and connect it to a computer. You may get the recovery mode prompt. If that doesn't work due to circumstance your phone is a brick now and your main culprit is that jailbreak.
Oh, and because you jailbroke Apple will refuse to help you.
- Jailbroken iphone stuck in recovery mode/power button does not work? Okay, so my iphone was jailbroken & I had a lot of data on it so I chose to erase all content… It has been stuck on the loading spinny screen for two hours now. My top corner power button will NOT work as in it is broken. Is there any way I can force my phone into recovery mode without this power button working?
