How to find bike routes on Iphone 5?
I want to take a bike trip to areas I don't know well, and would like to find an ap that shows me nearby bike routes, bike lanes. I just got the iphone 5, and would like to use that, since I don't want to hae to carry a lot of gadgets.
Google maps don't do it on the Iphone, nor can I get map my ride to let me map a route from my phone.
Anybody have a solution?
Does your municipality have designated bike routes, lanes? If not, then no apps for you.
Don't ask Siri all she will display are bike shops in your area.
The only solution would be to use Safari and google bike paths, bike routes, and lanes for the area you want and zoom in on the maps.
I recommend using Strava, MapMyRide, Endomondo, and many other cycling apps that have routes people have uploaded. Also, try talking to your local shop, as they may have information.
If you're talking cross State or something epic like that, then check out Adventure Cycling.
If it's a shorter trip, use Google maps - it has a bike option that isn't bad and is as good as anything else, aside from local maps from cycling organizations. I'm not talking about on your phone, I'm talking about printing out the directions from Google Maps and referring to them.
What do you think people did before they had GPS's or Google maps? Long distance adventure riders/tourers use real maps, printed on paper. Electronics are just used as an aid. Your best bet, assuming this is a long distance trip, is to get real maps.

- Why does iPhone show routes with tolls? So I've gone to some of the locations I try to GPS on my phone to and they take me down the toll way to get there but the last time I went there I didn't go through a toll. It acts like that is the only way to get there. However why would it beset to take you down the toll way? I guess it may be faster, but I just want to get there.
