How to get At&t to unlock my Iphone 5?

Okay so I've had this phone for a month-almost 2 months. When I got the phone the screen was cracked and I had to replace it the day I bought it. Anyway, after I got it fixed I went to activate it but it wouldn't because it needed the old owners apple. Then it poped up "this Iphone has been lost please call the owner *number* if found". So we called the owner and he was real nice and he apologized for the whole siutation. He told me that I could just keep the phone since I had gotten it fixed and stuff. He then took it off of the find my iphone so I could set it up.

It's still linked to At&t and Straight Talk told me I had to get them to unlock it for them to update it so my straight talk will work. I called At&t and they told me to fill out a unlock request, but what if it comes back and they don't give me the code to unlock it? Will I need to go to at&t store? The old owner told me that I can get them to contact him if they need to speak with him. Is there any way I can email at&t incase the request comes back and they deny my request to unlock it?

Just have the old owner take care of it. But since the owner said the iphone is good to go. All you need it an AT&T straight talk compatible sim card.

AT&T does not give unlock codes, iPhones do not require unlock codes they are more sophisticated than that. You must request an unlock through the carrier at which point the carrier contacts apple with the IMEI number and apple will verify it is not reported lost or stolen and if it's good to go they will have you complete the unlock through a restore in ITunes. So as long as your story about it being "lost" is kosher you don't own a brick, otherwise the IMEI is locked and it is now a glorified iPod

I also can't tell you if At&t will get back to you. Have you tried getting unlock codes in factory unlock website like http://www.unlockroom.org

For iPhones you will not receive an unlock, but will unlock the phone for you and when is done will just have to connect to iTunes and activate the phone with a different carrier sim and will permanently unlocked. Should wait first to see if your form will help you get your phone unlock, and if not can ask the old owner to fill up a form for you. If still not working can get it unlocked online for about 45$ (that is our price for example)
