How to get my iphone 4 off mute?

The little slide thing on the side of my phone does not work. I flick it back and forth, but it doest unmute, so it is definitely broken. Now apple would charge me 150 to repair that and i think that is ridiculous… Is there a way i can get my phone to ring again manually? Please help thanks

Added (1). My phone is stuck on the mute mode tho, because the key won't work…
like when i flick it nothing happens so when i receive texts and phone calls no sound is made. When i type and loc my phone the sound effects dotnt make noise either

  • IPhone 4 issues, sound, camera, mute button Are these common issues: 3 months ago I had no sound coming from the speakers which fixed its self. Occasionally my camera screen goes black and only works if I leave it for 30 mins. Now when I tap the side the mute switches on and off and goes crazy. Are these common faults or should I seek manufactures warranty as only had the phone for 5 months.
