How to get rid of all the 'Other junk?
I have an iPhone 4 and almost all of my usage is being hogged by the mysterious "Other" category! It's preventing me from using my phone in the ways I want to! What is all that stuff and how do I free up some space on my phone?!
'Other' data is comprised of backround stuff; mostly things relegated to the IOS that runs the phone. It should only take up around 1/5th or less of all data. If it is that high it means you have a software corruption. In a short time your phone may simply stop working at all and will force a restore.
You will have to restore the phone AS NEW and NOT from a backup using itunes on a computer. Erasing through the settings of the phone won't cut it. And I suspect it will go into recovery mode so don't be surprised if it takes 30-45 minutes to run its course.
Although restoring from icloud would be OK. Unless of course you have a backup on your computer from before this happened. Itunes backups will save the corruption so they would be useless. With icloud though it only backs up certain things. Will not back up media (music, apps) or photos.

I know there are some apps to view the 'other' but i don't want to pay for them, is there any free apps similar to this without jailbreak or any other ways to get rid of it?

- I'm trying to get rid of Other on iPhone 5? I know this is a tired question because no one can figure out how to truly remove the (5GB in my case) excess of "other" on the iPhone because it apparently might be due to corrupted files. I've tried everything I can find online to no avail. I really don't want to resolve to starting a new phone because I need my current photos, contacts and messages. Any suggestions?

Microsoft SmartScreen sends everything I review to Junk even though it's not spam or whatever, and it's getting rather annoying. How do we turn it off without changing settings from the computer (just chaning settings on Outlook) as I only use my hotmail on my iPhone/Hotmail.
