How to have a text tone but no ringtone on iPhone?

I have an iPhone 4s with the most current version of iOS 7. Is there a way to have my phone make a sound when getting a text but only have it vibrate when I get a call? How can I do that?

Even if you could, the phone would have to be awake for it to work all the time. Don't think it will respond in sleep mode. Look under Settings > Sounds and try it but without an app I don't think you can. Best luck.

  • Why isn't my text tone working on my iPhone 4s? It's a brand new phone. The volume is all the way up and all of my other tones work fine. In the settings, it indicates that it will both play the tone and vibrate when I get a text. It does neither.

These text messages come from a different number each and every time. (ie. 777203777562, 777… ). All text messages start with "alert@erie.gov".Is there any program or any way where I can create a ring tone for all these numbers without typing them all in?
  • My text tone does not work (iPhone)? I have the iPhone 4S & the "Alert" text tone set. When I'm on my phone & I receive a text, it rings. But when my phone is locked & I receive a text, it doesn't ring or vibrate or do anything. What do I do to fix this?
