How to improve the FM radio reception on my iHome radio?

I have an iHome docking station. It's an alarm clock / radio / iPod or iPhone dock. I would love to improve the FM radio reception on it, but it seems everyone recommends an external antenna. I just think it's a little unnessasary for me to purchase one just for my alarm clock radio in my bedroom. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

(ps, the antenna on it isn't your typical metal one. It is more of a long, flexible wire)

You need an antenna. You've been told this.

  • Would i get better reception with 4G? Where i live i don't get good service at all. Almost none unless i go to town. I have to text thru a Wi-Fi texting app. If i got a 4G phone like the Iphone 4 or something would i get better reception?
  • Will cell reception get better after I get an iphone5? I currently have a very cheap cell phone that I got for free more than 2 years ago which is not capable of 4G. Now, I'm considering upgrading to an iphone 5. Will that improve the reception and chances that I will get less dropped calls and other problems?
  • Verizon iPhone 4 very slow with 3G reception? Even when I have a full 5 bars of reception on my Verizon iPhone 4, it can still take a very long time to load even the simplest pages or send messages. Usually when this happens, the circular revolving loading symbol that appears next to the "3G" will lag, it won't stay consistently turning which makes me think it's having a hard time loading pages. Also, my messages will sometimes send twice or reach the recipient hours after I send them a text.
  • Replaced iphone screen, now bad Wi-Fi reception? Ok so i just replaced my iphone screen and now the Wi-Fi connection is terrible i'm not even 10ft from away from my router and it doesn't pick up anything!
