How to keep iPhone (5s) in good condition?

I want to know of ways to keep my iPhone in great condition so I can always enjoy it being like new and if I want to sell it later I will get the most out of it. I haven't gotten the phone yet but I'm just preparing for it so I know what to do to keep it in good shape. And when I say that I don't mean by getting Screen Protectors, Case, or using a Cleaning Cloth. I mean how to keep its internals in good shape. Things like how to keep from burning up the battery and how to keep its internals good so it stays running in good shape? Is there a way to keep its performance up? Hope there's an answer to this.

Infrequent use.
Don't download apps.
Keep the battery topped up - don't let it sit for extended periods at a low state of charge (Li-Ion like to be topped frequently).
Cool, dry storage.

It is about being responsible simple thing you can do such as. Don't always use it (most phones do spoil by being over used)
