How to keep track of my childs texts/imessages?

I'm concerned about what my son may be sending to people and saying to people on his phone, and I was just wondering if there was a way to keep track of his texts and imessages on his iphone? I don't want to have to regularly take his phone off of him because that will loose any trust that there's, and it may also give him time to delete things. I have an unused ipod touch that I was thinking about connecting to his iTunes account, but I don't have the first clue on where to start, any help would be warmly welcomed.

(also, net-nanny iphone style software recommendations would help also)

If his Apple ID is connected to his personal email account, then this may be an issue. When you enter an Apple ID into a new device an email will be sent to the email. If this is not the issue then you can simply:

iOS 6- Settings
Messages
*Messages on*
(Enter Apple ID)
Follow rest of steps.

If on iOS 7 it may be a little different but more likely the same.

After doing this all messages sent and received will be shown on your device as well as you being able to reply to the messages.

Also although this is a good precaution if you feel he is suspicious, but if not I'd have a talk with him just setting the basic rules. I know I'm not a parent myself as I still am young but my parents had given me permission and trusted me, they also taught me things such as privacy and not sharing address, name etc.

  • Why is my Iphone not sending as Imessages and receiving iMessages from one person? I'm texting my wife and we both have iPhone's and she is getting the messages as an iMessage but the ones I'm sending her on my end show up at green. Sometime it will go as blue, get the little red exclamation point then send as regular SMS. I'm texting someone else too and she has an iPhone, and she is getting mine as regular iMessages and mine are sending as regular iMessages. Why aren't they sending to me wife as iMessages?
  • Why does my iPhone sometimes send texts to other iPhones as iMessages then regular texts to iPhones? Like when I send a text to my friend that has an iphone, it usually sends as an iMessage then it will randomly send as just a regular text and it will be green and not blue.
  • Why do my imessages always send as texts? It's not for everyone, just one person. Every time I try to send a text to that person, it's blue for a little bit, then later turns green, sent as a text. And I text other people all the time that have iphones and those messages are always blue. Why does this happen? I doubt their phone is always off or anything like that.
  • Why do i keep getting other people's iMessages? My sister got a new iPhone 4S and a screen popped up on my iPhone 4.It said something about getting imessage with 614-567-3879 (my sister's phone number) and so i though that meant whether i wanted to have iMessage when talking to her, but i didn't read all the way through. So i hit yes, and now whenever she sends a text to someone or somebody sends a text to her, i receive it to. How do i turn this off?
