How to know if it is going to rain or if it wi be cloudy?
When I look outside it is cloudy. There's no rain but the weather.com says it is going to rain tonight but my iphone current location says it will rain around 5pm(25minutes from when I'm writing this). I have a swim practice and don't want to bike to the pool if I know it will start to thunder because then I will have to bike back in the storm. Is there anyway to tell if it is going to rain or if it will just be a cloudy evening?
The better thing to look at is radar… Not the forecast. This will show you pretty precisely where current precipitation is and where it's likely to show up.
Weather.com allows you to check current radar as well as future radar (up to about 3 hours ahead). Check the Weather In Motion link (radar maps) and click the Future button.
It depends on where you are. Some regions are much easier to predict precipitation than others.
I'm from Oregon, so my bicycle is equipped for riding in the rain. I just have to remember to bring along rain clothes. I can usually (98+% of the time) tell if it is going to rain in the next hours by stepping outside and "feeling" the weather. You get good at it when you have to.
