How to prove my iphone is mine? - 1

Basically how do I prove my iphone is mine without the serial number ect on the box matching what it says on the phone?

Yesterday my partner got a HTC. We both had iphone 4 phones. While his iphone updated and got restored to factory settings he went to his mothers house to collect his HTC. He then came back home. The iphone finally finished updating ect. He then took the iphone back to his mothers for his mother to keep. After he returned he got a phone all off his mother. She was screaming down the phone saying we've swapped the phones over so I have the newer one! (The phones are the same. Neither is newer than the other). After an hour of nasty phone calls and texts I thought to check the serial number ect on the sticker of the iphone box to the phone. It didn't match and then I remembered that the iphone I have is a replacement/repair phone so it wouldn't match the box. He lost his iphone box so there's no proof there. She has now told her son to never speak to her again and other vile things. This isn't a way a mother should speak to her son.

I can look on my o2 account and see the imei and sim numbers on my account, I would presume other networks also do this. If the imei for your account is the same as your phone, then you can prove you have the right one.
although saying that, I would be inclined to leave her to her own devices as you did her a favour by giving her the phone and she is being extremely unreasonable. Would proving yourself right really make up for her nastiness?

Ring apple care or talk to the Apple shop

They will have a record of your original number phone,
and the replacement one -> That number you can show is the same as the one you have.

Likewise, the other person has their original contract paperwork,
that will have the IMEI number on it also. (the one not changed)
The network if they sold the phone, will have a record also - call their customer care.

More significantly, why would the (correct) SIM cards have been removed?
if the SIM cards were never removed, then the phones, phone numbers etc have never changed.

And whatever caused this person to think that there was a difference / that she can tell the difference?

in all honesty, anyone who is 'that' bothered but can't even keep the paperwork to prove that the phone 'is their phone' deserves to be ignored (and you are well rid of them). But as above there are ways to track down the phone ID.

  • Why won't mine and my wife s iphone calendars merge/ sync? Our calendars used to sync.whenever she added something to her calendar on her phone it would go to mine and vice-versa.
