How to put music on my iPhone 4s? - 1

I recently got a iPhone 4s and I want to put music on it. I have updated iTunes to the most recent Version. I plug my phone into the computer and iTunes loads my device and everything.
I'm very confused can someone please be my hero and Help Me Out!

You don't need to use the computer just go onto the itunes app on your phone Type in the name of a song or a artist and tap on the song

Just add all your songs or mp3's, etc, into your itunes list, you can add any songs into the list… Then copy them to the iphone whenever you want and use the computer as a backup that way.

Music from where? Unless you say otherwise, I'm going to guess your music is in mp3 format on your HD.

Click on the iPhone tab in the sidebar.

If you don;t see the sidebar, hit ctrl S (or select it in the view menu).

Click on the summary page. Scroll down and look for the box for "manually manage music and video"

Check the box next to that option.

Click on the music tab right under the iphone tab in sidebar.

The main window in iTunes is now showing the music folder of your iPhone (which I'm guessing is empty).

Open a window on your computer screen for the folder on your HD containing your music files.

Use your mouse to drag them into the iTunes window. ITunes will copy the music files to your iPhone.

You can get music files on your HD by

ripping CD's - no matter whey the come from.CD's have no copy protection, and they can be ripped using windows media player or other software, Make sure that you choose mp3 as the output format for your ripped music files in WMP's settings. The alternative is wma, which might work. The problem is that wma files may have copyprotection which must be deselected. You can use your CD's, those borrowed from friends, other people you know or the library.

You can also get music files by copying from the hard drives of people you know using a flash drive, then copying from that to your HD.

Do NOT copy from machine to machine using your iPod. If you sync, any music not on the computer you're syncing with will be erased from the iPhone.

You can buy music from other stores. I got free songs from the HIP music store a few years back because of a promotion run with Sprite - those songs went onto my iPod no problem.

Many people will suggest you download illegally using peer-share software, torrents, youtube downloaders or free-music sites. Each has its own negatives if not hazards.

Free music sites are hard to navigate. As a website, it may have exploit code. Established sites don;t host the files - only the links, so they can't verify the quality of the files.

Torrents and peer share software (famously, Limewire) aren't the same, but similar enough. Both require you install client software (which may contain malware). Both pose the risk that you will download malware that looks like a song or video file. Downloads on either can be tracked to your IP address by copyright trolls.

Youtube downloaders are okay (not talking legality) but remember, you will have to convert the file from flash video to mp3 - when it had to be converted TO flash to get to youtube. All that conversion means that fidelity will take a hit.
