How to put my iPhone 4 into recovery mode?

I forgot my passcode, and it is now disabled. I bought it off of a friend, and was able to it connect just fine to my laptop. My laptop no longer works, however, and I haven't synced the iPhone to another computer, so the computer I DO have, doesn't recognize the phone.
I've tried to put in "recovery mode" as per the instructions on the apple website, but nothing pops up on the itunes page. The iPhone just normally turns on, and goes to the "iPhone is disabled" screen. I've tried MANY times and several different ways to restore it over the course of about two months now, so it's not like i just gave up after a few tries.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

*it is an at&t phone, if that helps…

The you have to put it into iTunes mode and then plug into iTunes to restore it you do so buy holding the lock and home button down till you see the iTunes symbol on screen

  • My IPhone Won't go into recovery mode? I was walking yesterday and my IPhone 4S randomly turned off and it had %76 of battery. I've tried everything. I've help the power and home button and it won't reset. I also tried just holding the home button and it won't go into recovery mode. I plugged my IPhone into my PC on Itunes and it says I need to restore and update it. I press it and it pops up an error message saying its unable to. So if someone could help, that would be great!
  • My iphone went into recovery mode? I just updated my iPhone and it went into recovery mode by itself? I don't have a USB chord to plug it into a computer and connect to iTunes. I've tried restarting it and it's just stuck on the recovery screen. Is there any other possible way I can get it out of recovery mode?

  • My iphone 4s won't go into recovery mode? I'm trying to into the iphone with the passcode i had forgotten already. I tried out the tips from apple and nothing happens. They say the "connect to itunes" screen will come along but it didn't.same with the "recovery mode screen". I would risk deleting all my files in there as long as i'm able to get in.
