Ask for a cashier's check or a money order. Aside from those two Paypal is probably the easiest and safest.
You can sell on ebay easily if you follow the basic rules - look for buyer 100% rating (don't go less than 100%!), don't agree to do trade 'outside of ebay', and follow common sense.
