How to Set Up An Unlocked iPhone For Verizon?

So my boyfriend is in Europe and he lost his phone one night. So he bought an unlocked iphone 4s from a local electronics store and they said it would work with Verizon. How does he set it up while he's over there?

He has to have a Verizon sim inserted in it to activate it. Then he can set up normally or with this link.

Best luck.

If it is for Verizon in the US, they absolutely do not work with unlocked phones. You can't unlock phones from or to Verizon USA

Unlocked iPhone or any phone will not work on Verizon. They just wanted to sell the phone that's why they said that. Verizon requires CDMA phones and then only it will work.

He has to take it to a Verizon store or call them to activate it. Verizon doesn't use SIM cards since they are a CDMA carrier and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.

The store was wrong. Verizon uses the old CDMA system, and the only place where you can buy iPhones that can handle CDMA is from a carrier that uses CDMA, which means Verizon or Sprint. Unlocked phones bought from Apple or anywhere else won't work, as they don't even have the hardware support for CDMA.
