How to switch a sprint iPhones be to a different carrier?
So my dad won a used sprint iPhone 6 has he has no account with sprint the iPhone is not connected and has no SIM card how can he switch it to a different carrier?

Well, your dad will need to get Sprint to unlock the phone. However, Sprint is really hesitant about doing that. Their representatives often give you wrong/conflicting info. Some will tell you that it can only be unlocked for international use, others tell you that you can't unlock it at all, and some give you a code that is irrelevant.

And if Sprint does unlock the phone, there's no guarantee that it will work on a different carrier.
There are two different kinds of cell phones: CDMA and GSM. You can't use a CDMA phone on a GSM carrier or vice versa. Sprint and Verizon are CDMA; AT&T and T-Mobile are GSM.
You would need to unlock the phone first.
Maybe Ting or Verizon, it is the 6s when they started coming in SIM-free.
I would check the website of the carrier you wished to switch to. I'm pretty sure my the unlocked iPhone 6 I used with Cricket and T-Mobile will not work with Verizon or Sprint.
As long as the phone is unlocked from Sprint, he "SHOULD" be able to activate it on any other CDMA carrier. But the only way to know for certain is to ask the carrier you plan to use the phone on FIRST.
