How to switch from imessage to textmessage? (iphone)?

I just wanted to ask how to send an iMessage as a text message.
whenever i want to message my dad it sends it as imessage automatically.
but sometimes he doesn't get mine (i don't know why but this is not relevant) so i wanted to know how to send it as a text message to him? I get his messages as text message but i can't seem to text him back!
I tried everything.

You can just usually hold the 'send' button for a second and it'll turn green. Or if that doesn't work which i doesn't all the time you can usually press and hold the Imessage that won't send then select the option 'send as text message'

  • Would I be able to switch carriers without having to switch phones? I'm with Consumer Cellular and I have an iPhone SE, but I'm thinking of switching carriers so that I can get unlimited data. I don't want to get a new phone because I've had my current one about six months, I really like it, and it works great. I'm not locked into a contract with Consumer Cellular. Would I be able to switch to another carrier without having to purchase a new phone?

What's the exchange/refund policy for Best Buy? And will Best Buy be selling the iPhone 5 for pre-order? If anyone knows. My service is Verizon if that matters
  • IPhone can't send iMessage to iPod touch user with iMessage? At random times, whenever I try to iMessage my friend who has just a iPod Touch, where you type in the message will say "Text Message" instead of "iMessage." is there a way to fix this so it will always send as a iMessage instead of Text?
  • IMessage won't send to another iPhone with iMessage? So my iMessage works to all my friends that have iMessage except one friend in particular. He has iMessage on his phone and can iMessage all his friends but he can't iMessage me. We both have iMessage turned on on our phones but they simply will not iMessage each other.
