How to tell if my iPhone 5 is 4G?

So I have a new iPhone 5 which to my understanding is 4G (or LTE) enabled. I haven't yet been to a city in the UK which supports 4G to test it but when I bought the phone I went for the 4G option with the understanding that when I do visit a city with 4G I will be able to take advantage of the faster Internet there. Now here is my question, the network I'm with is orange and I have recently been informed that the only network supporting 4g in the UK is EE… Does this mean I have a 4g enabled phone on a network that doesn't support 4g! Surely Orange wouldn't sell me a 4g phone with which I can't use 4g? Can anyone please clarify the situation here, can I use 4g with what I have or do I need to change network to EE or will orange begin to support 4g some time soon?

To confirm, in the phone's settings I have an opinion to enable or disable LTE connectivity so I assume the handset is 4g enabled I'm just confused about the network situation.

Cheers in advance

Orange and t-mobile are EE so you should have 4g

All of you were tricked by that 4G and 5G thing… There were no 4G and 5G invented yet. The highest G was 3G still. If you will tell me I'm a liar and a fool then try go back to college and study Engineering. Even 16 year old brats taking up engineering knows about it. If they did not know about it then, it was such a loss for them.

All network system knows that making a tower and satellite for 4G was still planned.

By the way, if there's higher than 3G, that is 3.5G. But 4G, that's still on progress…

Most of the network system were using 3G or 3.5G.

If you will say 3.5G and 4G are same then I will tell you, where did you put your lesson in math?

You have a 4G LTE phone on EE only

Only if EE transmit data at 4G LTE speeds do you get it, so it is up to EE, if they don't transmit then you won't

Only EE is currently has an operational 4G LTE service

The IP5 is however NOT 4G LTE ready! This means you will ONLY get 4G LTE service on EE,

If you get the IP5 unlocked and move to O2 or Yodafone you will be only be 3G

I dare say you have seen the network magazines 4G LTE ready handset's, eg the BB Z10, xPerai Z Lumia 920, just to name 3 are All 4G LTE ready no matter what network an unlocked phone will get 4G when the network goes 4G LTE

Only Apple ( and I'm a cynic) have released a phone tied to one network. As it only has one 4G LTE band 1800 Mhz which only EE will use

There will be many people who have purchased an IP5 directly from O2 or Yodafone who simply are incapable of getting 4G LTE.

The IP5S will IMO be 4G LTE ready so works on all, but if you were to sell your IP5 it would be useless except on EE for 4G LTE (so why sell one phone when you can sell two.)

In 2014 all networks will have a service, you IP5 is 4G LTE on EE only. Which may not be transmitting at those speeds all over the UK

My phone is 4G LTE ready so any network in 2014 is… Mine

What do you see currently 3g or e?
