How to transfer my itunes library to a new laptop?

I have a ton of songs on my iPhone that I want to put on my iTunes Library for my new laptop, but I can't get it to work. Apple support site says to transfer purchases, but I'm not getting that option on the newest version of iTunes. I have already authorized the computer too, so that's not it. I just can't find the transfer option.

Can't you just log into your itunes account on your new comp? I tried to do this recently but it would only let me load the songs I had purchased so if that's your problem too, use a memory stick or something.

Actually, you can transfer your iPhone music to a new computer in a simple way.
Step 1. Connect iPhone with PC
Step 2. Transfer files from PC to iPhone
In the primary window, you can see Media, Playlist, Photos, Contacts, and more. After clicking Media, you can see that songs, movies, TV shows, Music Videos, Podcasts, iTunes U, and AudioBooks. Find which category the files you want to transfer from PC to iPhone belong to. And then click Add to find files on your PC and click Open to add them to your iPhone.
Click "Media" on the left side of the window > click "Music Videos" at the top of the window > Click Add to choose "Add Folder" or "Add File"> Find music video folder or files and click "Open".

  • Will downloading a new iTunes ruin my old iTunes library? I tried connecting my new iPhone 5 to my iTunes but it said that it wouldn't connect because my version of iTunes was really old (from 2010) and I never updated. It said I need to download a new version of iTunes (10.7 onwards) for it to be compatible with my iPhone. But my question is, IF I download a new version of iTunes, will all my old songs on my old iTunes disappear? Because if I had to re-download my whole library, I would seriously cry. That would take the rest of my life.
