How to turn iMessage of on my mac?

Hi guys just a quick one. I just brought a new MacBook and whilst setting it up I might have logged in with my iMessage details and now when someone text my iPhone 5 through Imessage and we're having a conversation it appears on messages on my mac aswell. How can I turn this off so it only gets sent to my iPhone 5 and not my mac? Because I don't want anyone reading my messages when they are on my mac.

From the menus in the Messages app…

Messages > Preferences > Accounts > Sign Out

  • IMessage on mac for non-iPhone users? Ok, so i've got iMessage set up with my mac & I love being able to text straight from the computer. My question is. Is there any app that I can use to text all my contacts including non-iPhone users?
  • IMessage on Mac doesn't send to non-Apple devices? I think I remember updating my Mac some time ago and I hadn't noticed this issue until I tried messaging a friend. On my Mac with iMessage, I could send and receive messages from people who did not have an iPhone or iPod but now I can't? Can someone confirm this or maybe there's something wrong with my contacts? I'm assuming now we can only to iMessage users from Mac.
  • IMessage not connecting to new iPhone and mac? Recently had my iMessage connected to both my iPhone and MacBook. I switched my iPhone 5 to a 5C today, and now my iMessage isn't connected interchangeably to both my new phone and my MacBook. Messages that I'm sending from my Mac aren't showing up on my new phone, but still my old phone. How do I go about changing that so they will show on my new phone opposed to my old phone?
  • Imessage. Can send image from iphone to mac but not mac to iphone? What's going on? Try to send image from mac and error saying "04******** can't receive file transfers"
