How to turn off vibration alerts while in app for messages on iPhone 5?

I have an iPhone 5 that I've only owned for a little over a week. I have mostly everything figured out on it but there's one thing that is annoying me like crazy. When I'm texting a friend and I'm still in the messages app - It vibrates (along with the swoosh noise) everytime they send me a new message. The vibration only occurs when I'm inside of the messages app. If I'm in another app or on the home screen, I just get the traditional Tri-Tone alert with no vibration. I've already got the phone set under Settings > Sounds > Text Tone > Vibration > None

But it's still doing it. What am I doing wrong? I just want it to make the swoosh sound when I receive a message and I'm in the app.

Go to settings then go to notifications then click messages then click on. There you go: D use alerts not banners

I want to know what app this is so I can download it. She had an IPhone. I was going to ask what it was but before I got a chance they called her in the back.
  • Iphone messenger app no longer alerts? It no longer alerts or shows a banner on the iPhone screen. This happened once before and I reset the app and that fixed it. It did not work this time. I would like to know how to fix this Never know when someone is trying to message me without checking all the time.
