How to uinlock a t-mobile iphone 4?

I bought an iphone 4 off a friend, but he restored it to factory default, however it is on t-mobile and my sim only contract is on tesco mobile, so i went to a number of phone unlocking shops and they said they couldnt do it as t-mobile phones can't be unlocked, which i was confused about as i unlocked a t-mobile blackberry last year, the only problem is, that my friend doesn't know who's phone it was to begin with, therefore i can't contact them… Can anybody help?

Follow the link address i believe that they now unlock mobiles including the iPhone! But bear in mind though that the iphone is pretty expensive to unlock.

T-Mobile/EE can unlock the phone for you, but it takes around 20 days for them to do it. You need to contact T-Mobile and they can arrange this for you. Call 0845 412 5000 or visit an EE store.

I'm surprised your local shops can't unlock this for you? I've never heard of them not being able to unlock a T-Mobile iPhone.

It's very rare that you get t-mobile iphone unlocks.
However I know of one site, where my friend got his tmobile iphone unlocked

I have used http://www.officialphoneunlock.com 's services. I think they IMEI unlock your iPhone.
They seem to be experts and have been able to unlock my iPhone 3Gs and my iPhone 5.
My friend unlocked his iPhone 4 via them aswell.

So when i finished and put it back in the phone, it says i have T Mobile, but it is a simple mobile sim card? When i used the simple mobile sim card for the 3GS it said "simple mobile" but now that i changed it, it says t mobile. Does anyone know why this happened? And am i being like charged?
