I just got the iPhone 4, and I have been browsing trying to find a way to unlock it for free. But with no success! I even talked to Apple support

The way I got my 4s unlocked was by calling my service provider and I told them I was a constant traveler and I need my phone with me since I use it for business. It worked for me, Good luck!
I too had the same situation couple of weeks ago. I was searching for a free unlocking solution with my network locked iPhone 4. But it was of no use. I couldn't find any reliable free unlocking solution for an iPhone.

If you are the original owner of the iPhone, you can send an unlock request to the carrier and they will unlock it for free if you meet the unlocking requirements. If you are a secondhand owner, you won't be able to unlock it for free. Your best bet is to go through a third party unlocking service mentioned in the source article below.
Agree with Asek. I got an iPhone from eBay and it was locked so i had to pay to unlock it cuz AT&T didn't want to unlock since they could not verify my name.
