Added (1). My mother bought me an iphone7plus from t-mobile in new jersey. She sent the phone to me here in the philippines. But the phone was locked and local sims were not read. We have contacted t-mobile and theyve said that it is necessary that the phone is used with a t-mobile sim for a few days so they can unlock it. In conclusion, i must send it back to new jersey and have my mother use it with their sim. But it is such a big hassle for us. Are there any ways I can unlock my phone?

Added (2). What I mean by locked is that it doesn't allow other sims.

It is "SIM Locked"; usually that means it was sold at a discount by a phone company on the basis that you would have to use their phone services and be paying them for the next year or two.

That's how different phone companies make their money when they discount the actual phones.

With iphones, there are no codes or anything like some older phones used, the "unlock" is an update sent directly to that specific phone by Apple.

The only way that happens is if a phone company sends a request through; they will only do that if the phone is linked to "your" account with the company and you are one of their customers.

So, yes - you have to send it back and wait for it to be unlocked. There's no or possible way of doing it.
