How to update an Apple IPhone 3?

I checked the manual and it tells me to go to SETTINGS>Genereal> UPDATE. I did all this, but my phone does not have an UPDATE folder. Is there another way to do an update?

Connect your phone to your computer. Open iTunes. Click on your phone on the left side. Toward the middle center of the screen that comes up, look for an option that says software update, and click it.

You go to settings>general>software update. If you don't find that you can go to itunes and connect phone to it and then click on "check for update".

  • Update stopped during ios update own iphone now phones broke I connected my iPhone 4 to my computer (iTunes) and started doing the update through iTunes. About five minutes into the update iTunes in my computer stops working, causing the update to of course stop working. Now my phone will not turn on. On the screen it is black with the 'charge symbol' as if it were low on battery and an iTunes symbol. I have tried turning my phone off and on, but of course it didn't respond.
