How to update my Iphone 3GS's software?
I recently bought a used Iphone 3GS and it shows that it is ios4.2.1. I would like to update to ios5 so I can get different apps, but I'm not sure how to. When I go to settings>general, there's no software option, so I'm not sure about that. Is there a way to update it through Itunes?
1. Download the latest version of iTunes: apple.com/uk/itunes.
2. Plug your iPhone into your Mac or PC.
3. Click your iPhone in the bar just below the top of the window.
4. Click 'check for updates'.
N.B: Usually, iTunes will notify you of the fact that there are updates available for your iPhone.

- Is ''Iphone'' software only or hardware and software? I've never had an Iphone. I always see it anounced in an absolutely black device, such as this one: http://pective.com/m/iphone-5 I wonder whether, when you're going to buy one, you go to the apple store and buy the whole thing, or look for a Nokia or Sony smartphone and then go to the Apple website and buy and download the software into your device.
