How to update my unlocked iPhone?
I have an iphone 3gs and its running on 4.2.1 for t mobile and i want to update it because i can barely download/update apps on my phone with the iOS so old. I have this app i really want/need but it needs iOS 5 but when i last tried to update my phone, it went back to the original iphone set up screen, but wouldnt detect my sim card so i had to take it back to t mobile and get it downgraded again and it was just really time consuming and pointless money spending. Is there any way i can update the os?
Go to settings, click on general, then click on software update
Have you tried restoring it? I had the same issue a couple of months ago with an iPod.
Your best bet is to save everything to a MicroSD card first, though, so you don't lose any important data you can't replace. Contacts save to your SIM card, usually, depending on preference.
- Will an unlocked iphone 4S work for tmobile if it isn't factory unlocked? I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.

- IOS 7 UPDATE: Can I still update my unlocked iPhone? So I went to a friends phone retail store he unlocked my iPhone through a company wich gives u the code to unlock and then he connected it wit Net10 (AT&T). Pretty sure it was a legal unlock MY QUESTION IS: can I still update my iPhone 4S to IOS 7 even though my iPhone is unlocked? Because if I do I'm worried my carrier settings wuld erase and I wouldn't have a line with Net10 any more.

Neither the computer nor iTunes are recognising my phone and I've been working on his for an hour, I want to stop the update so I can go to bed, how can I do that?
