How to use apple earbuds with mic on pc?
I have a pair of apple earbuds with a microphone and the remote. They are tested, and work on my iPhone. But when i plug it into my pc, Reaklet Audio Manager asks what thing i just plugged in. I choose mic in, but when i test it on steam, it doesn't work. But the funny thing is, the real earbud (where you put in your ear) acts as a microphone. So when i'm testing to see if it works, i don't speak into the remote, but into the earbud. How can i fix this so that i can use the remote part of the earbuds. I need this quick as I have a meeting soon, and i need a working microphone. I also have the latest computer, as i just built this one.
You need an adapter.
Apple uses the 3-stage plug which has stereo earbuds and microphone on the same plug. PC's don't. PC use separate plugs for microphone and headphone. It can't "combine" the two.
Your headset is doing weird things because the "wrong stages" are getting connected.

Do I insert it into the headphone or mic input thing? Thanks @Grayson M I meant for using my earbuds for Skype on my laptop. There are 2 inputs, one headphones, the other for the mic. Which one do I plug my earbuds in so that I can use them as earphones and mic?
- New Apple Head-set with mic? I have a pair of the new Apple head phones that came with my Iphone5 and it has a picture of a mic on the back of the volume control and I don't see a little hole for the mic. So I'm just a little confused. Is there a mic on it?
- Just got an iPhone 7, should I use my old earbuds with the dongle/lightning connector or use the ones that came in the box? I'm not sure which I should use first. Use the lightning connector with the earbuds I've been using or should I use the earbuds that come with it that just plug into that charging hole? Sorry I'm not so good at deciding.
- How to use my iPhone earphones as a mic for PC? What do I need for them to work with my PC? And when i do plug in my earphones to the mic jack on the computer and try to use them, my voice is not even recognizable.Am I missing something?
