How to use DDWRT Linksys router to create acces point or repeater?

Here is my problem:

I have suddenlink as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and i currently use their router for my home. My home is rather large and i would like to connect my Linksys (WRT54GS) router to my main router to allow me to connect with a stronger signal and custom login details in my electronics room.
One constraint is i can't run an ethernet cable between the two routers so it would have to connect wirelessly.

My Solution (what i have tried): I have a dell inspiron 1545 win 7, and i have tethered my iphone 4 between the computer. While i had it tethered i used internet connection sharing (ICS) to repet the signal through my ethernet port and out to my xbox and to my shock it worked. I tried to do the same with ICS to my router but it was a fail.

I need serious help. I'm not a networker.

One nifty feature of DD-WRT that most stock firmwares don't have, is the ability to operate as a "Repeater Bridge". You'd have your primary router (the gateway supplied by Suddenlink) set up normally, and set up your WRT to run as the repeater bridge.

Wireless clients could then connect to either router - in most cases they'd automatically connect to whichever one had the stronger signal.

There's a well-written HowTo on the DD-WRT website that discusses how to set this up for both Broadcom-based devices (like your WRT54GS) and Atheros devices (like my Netgear WNDR3700).So, rather than just repeating it here (get it? "repeating" it… Sorry, it was a poor pun), I'll just give you the link to the HowTo.

  • What's the difference between a cheap router and a good router? Just wanted to know the difference between a cheap router and an expensive router, I know that is a very broad question, I'm just a bit confused on how a router works. Does it increase my Internet speed on multiple devices? I get 50Mb per second, Well at least that's what I pay for. I have a PS3 two iPhones and a tablet, as well as a desktop PC that is wireless. Can anyone recommend an excellent router under $150
  • MY Linksys WRT54G doesn't connect to the internet through wi-fi? The router is connected to an ADSL modem. I do have internet connection on my PC that is connected to the router via Ethernet cable, but when I connect to the same router through Wi-Fi on my iPhone or Samsung Galaxy phone it shows that they are connected but I can't access the internet. Their browsers try to open the webpages but they fail after 10-15 seconds. I did try to remove the security options from the router. It didn't help. It's set on DHCP.
  • Is it possible that a 3G 2100Mhz repeater is also able to amplify LTE signals in the same frequency? To all engineers out there, is it possible for repeaters rated for 2100mHz 3G is also able to amplify LTE signals under the same frequency? My iPhone cycles through LTE and 3G when the repeater is on, while it switches to "No Service" when the repeater is unplugged.
